Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) is a strong, abrasion-resistant fluoropolymer known for its exceptional combination of chemical resistance, temperature capability, and mechanical strength. It offers broad resistance to salts, strong acids, dilute bases, and many organic solvents, including aromatics, aliphatics, and chlorinated compounds. It is ideally suited for handling wet or dry chlorine, bromine, and other halogens; however, strong bases and certain polar solvents or esters may attack the material. With a smooth, hard-polished surface that resists micropore formation, PVDF systems help prevent biological growth and minimize particulate release, making them well-suited for ultra-pure water and high-purity chemical services in electronics, pharmaceutical, and food or beverage processing applications. Kynar® PVDF components are free of metallic ions and foreign organic compounds, providing clean, reliable performance. Natural (unpigmented) PVDF is commonly selected for ultra-pure systems and applications requiring visual inspection or monitoring, while red-pigmented PVDF helps mask UV penetration and is often preferred for outdoor installations or color-coding needs.
