Each ready-to-use probe is packed in a sterile, sealed Whirl-Pak® bag, providing durable, optimal performance for testing foodborne pathogens, biofilms, and surface contaminants. The opening Tyvek® pull tabs are perpendicular to the opening, keeping hands away for a safe, aseptic collection technique each time. To use the probe, tear open the top of the Whirl-Pak® bag, remove the sponge from the bag, swab the surface, insert the sponge back into the bag, twist the handle off, fold the top of the bag over three or more times, then bend in the wire tabs to close. The capacity is measured when the bag is closed and the tab is folded over three times (volume and dimensions are approximate, ±5%). The PolyProbe bags feature durable, non-toxic, allergen-free sponges that resist tearing and fraying and are tough enough to withstand the pressure to break through tough biofilms without leaving residue behind.
