FAQ’s about the Mini PVC Float Valves

Q. How do you adjust the Mini adjustable float valves?

A.There is a screw with a wing nut that you loosen. Then adjust the float to the level you want it at and retighten the wing nut. Adjustable models can be installed both horizontally and vertically.

Q. How do you mount the mini PVC float valves?

A. These valves mount in the wall of your tank with a jam nut and Santoprene ® sealing gasket. For the 1/4" and 3/8" valves, you must remove the compression nut to get the jam nut and gasket off. For the 1/2", you have to remove the jam nut and gasket. You will have to cut a hole in your tank the same diameter as the threads on the valve and insert it through the hole. Place the gasket on the threads and then tighten on the jam nut. Replace the compression nut on the 1/4" and 3/8" valves.

Q. How do you connect the mini PVC float valves to tubing?

A. The 1/4" and 3/8" valves have a Jaco compression nut. You insert the tubing into the nut and tighten it to secure it in place. The 1/2" is a MIPT in which you can connect the rigid pipe with a coupling or use an adapter fitting to connect to tubing.

Q. What size hole do these valves require?

A.

  • 1/4" requires a 7/16" hole.
  • 3/8" requires a 5/8" hole.
  • 1/2" requires a 7/8" hole.

Q. Do the mini PVC float valves have any metal parts that will corrode?

A. These valves have 18-8 stainless steel hardware. The hardware is the screw, wing nut, and hinge pin.

Q. What is the highest temperature that these valves are recommended for?

A. The manufacture only recommends them up to 100° F.

Q. Can I connect the 1/4" and 3/8" tubing inlets to soft tubing?

A. Yes, this can be accomplished by using a soft tubing insert.
