What can I do about tomato stains on plastic products?

Q. How can you remove tomato sauce stains on plastic products?
A. The stains are caused by the tomato base. The culprit is a chemical that gives tomatoes their beautiful red color: lycopene. Lycopene is a huge hydrocarbon with a multitude of double bonds and, for some reason, it discolors plastic products. To remove this stain, soak the stained product in bleach, which will kill the lycopene.
