These hollow plastic floating spheres are designed to form an effective vapor and thermal barrier on the surface of liquids in open tanks. By floating freely and spreading automatically as liquid levels rise and fall, the spheres reduce exposed liquid surface area by up to 90%, dramatically minimizing evaporation, heat loss, fumes, and odors. This makes them ideal for plating tanks, chemical processing tanks, and other open tank installations where access for processing or equipment movement must remain unobstructed. Their smooth, rimless design prevents chemical buildup and allows the spheres to form a tight, continuous surface cover. In addition to reducing evaporation and chemical consumption, these floating sphere blankets help lower heating costs by insulating heated liquids, often reducing energy requirements by up to 75%. They also reduce corrosive vapors, extend the life of surrounding structures, decrease the load on air extraction and scrubber systems, and limit the release of foul odors into the atmosphere. In cold environments, the spheres help reduce ice formation and can lower the freezing point at the liquid surface by up to 50°F (10°C). HDPE spheres provide enhanced resistance to oils and hydrocarbons and are less susceptible to stress cracking at low temperatures.
